Trip to Madurai - Ramana Maharishi

Tiruchuzhi is a birth place of Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi. It is situated about 15 kilometres east of Aruppukkottai, 40 km east of Virudhunagar, and 45 km south of Madurai, Tamil Nadu.

The Southern Tower of Madurai Meenakshi Temple, a tiny house is located on Chokkappa Naicker Street. Named "Ramana Mandiram" nowadays, this is the exact location where Ramana Maharishi spent his teenage.

After the demise of his father, the young Bhagavan, who was merely 12 years old, moved to his paternal uncle's house in Madurai (in Feb 1892 CE). This is where Sri Ramana Maharshi attained self-realization after getting the sudden fear of death first. After attaining self- realization, Bhagavan remained in this house for about six weeks. On 29th August 1896 CE, he ran away from his house, boarded the train, and ultimately reached Tiruvannamalai.

Trip to Tiruvannamalai - Sri Ramanasramam

Upon arriving in Tiruvannamalai, Sri Ramana Maharshi settled on the holy hill of Arunachala and spent much of his time in deep meditation and contemplation. He attracted a small group of followers who were drawn to his presence and teachings. In 1907, he moved to a small ashram on the outskirts of the town, which later became known as the Sri Ramanasramam. There, he continued to meditate and teach, and his reputation began to spread beyond the borders of India. Sri Ramana Maharshi remained in Tiruvannamalai until his death in 1950 at the age of 70. His legacy lives on through the Sri Ramanasramam and the many books and teachings that he left behind. His profound insights and teachings have touched the lives of countless individuals seeking spiritual awakening and self-realization.

1. The management team is not responsible for the safekeeping of your personal belongings.

2. Our trip starts from Madurai on 27 Aug 2023 and ends in Tiruvannamalai on 2 Sep 2023. Attendees have to make your arrangement to reach Madurai.

3. Attendees must be able to manage their own personal care and mobility. Attending with a support person is encouraged, where possible.

4. It is the attendee's responsibility to inform the management in writing of any past, present or potential health issues that may make them unsuitable to participate in the pilgrimage.
